PandoTrip is an independent travel publication created in Lithuania and shaped by contributors from different parts of the world. We publish destination guides, travel stories, photography-led features and practical ideas for people who are curious about what lies beyond the places they already know.
It began with places we hoped to see
The PandoTrip story began in Lithuania in 2012, when a few of us—including Rokas and Monika—were working ordinary office jobs. We spent much of our free time thinking about travel and collecting photographs of places we hoped to visit one day.
That became a Facebook page called Places to See Before You Die. The idea was simple: share photographs of remarkable places and inspire ourselves and other people to see more of the world.
The page grew much faster than expected. Hundreds of thousands of people began following it, and at its peak the community came close to two million followers. People were not only looking at the photographs. They wanted to know where the places were, why they were worth visiting and how they could experience them for themselves.
From photographs to a travel website
A Facebook page was no longer enough, so we created a website called Places to See in Your Lifetime. It gave us room to go beyond a single image and share more useful information about the destinations behind it.
At first, the website was a hobby rather than a business. It was a place to collect discoveries, record what we learned and share it with other travellers. Meanwhile, Rokas and Monika gradually moved away from regular office work, began working independently and remotely, and finally had more opportunities to travel themselves.
A project shaped by many people
As we began travelling more, the website changed with us. Along the way, we met other travellers, photographers, writers and people who were simply curious about the world. Some contributed a single story about a place they knew well, while others stayed involved for years.
PandoTrip has never been a conventional newsroom. It is a collaborative travel project shaped by people with different professions, interests and ways of seeing the world.
We are grateful to everyone who has helped shape the project, whether through a single photograph, a local recommendation, a personal story or years of involvement. Their contributions remain part of PandoTrip, and individual articles carry the byline of the person or editorial team responsible for them.
Why PandoTrip?
Over time, Places to See in Your Lifetime became PandoTrip.
The name was inspired by Pando, a colony of quaking aspen trees in Utah, United States. From above, it looks like a large forest, but its many trunks are genetically identical and connected below ground by a single root system. What appears to be thousands of separate trees is, in effect, one living organism.
That idea of connection suited what the website had become. Different people travel in different ways, visit different parts of the world and return with different experiences, but PandoTrip brings those perspectives together in one place. The Latin word pando can also mean “I spread” or “I extend”, which felt appropriate for a project that grew from a small Facebook page into an international travel archive.
Keeping a long-running travel site useful
Travel information does not remain current forever. Hotels and restaurants close, prices and entrance rules change, transport routes are updated, and places that were once quiet can become crowded.
We review and update older articles when we can. When an article can no longer be kept useful or accurate, we may remove it rather than leave seriously outdated information online. Our goal is not to preserve every page we have ever published, but to maintain a travel site that remains useful to its readers.
Articles may combine personal experience, contributor knowledge, editorial research and team review. Our Editorial Policy explains how we research, edit and update articles, how AI-assisted tools may support that work, where our photographs come from and how partner-supported content is identified.
Ownership and transparency
PandoTrip is owned and operated by MB Sanoris, a company registered in Vilnius, Lithuania. PandoTrip remains a small independent travel publication developed alongside the company’s other activities.

The idea that has not changed
Technology, social media and the way people plan trips have changed considerably since 2012. The central idea behind PandoTrip has not.
We want to help people discover the world: to introduce places they may not have found on their own, share what our contributors have learned and sometimes publish a photograph or story that makes someone think, “One day, I want to go there.”
That thought is where PandoTrip began, and it is still why we continue.
