We are celebrating summer and putting a list of these ten great places to go. This time you won’t find a lot of white sandy beaches. For that matter check our previous posts Top 10 Resorts to Go To in 2015 and Top 10 Beaches to Go to in 2015. This time though we are introducing you to the less known, but no less impressive places. Where would you like to go?

10. Haida Gwaii, British Colombia, Canada

The archipelago boasts coves and lush forests as well human history dating back 12 000 years. The site is protected by UNESCO and is proud of its unspoiled nature, the sounds of which fill the air here, as there is no urban hustle and bustle for miles. However, in summer one can find numerous festivals, lodges, restaurants and events in the towns.

How to get there?

Fly from Vancouver – in summer the airlines offer two flights daily. Get around by car or on foot. Also discover the archipelago on a small plane or boat.

9. Sark, Channel Islands, France

Located in the English Channel, the unusual destination will take you back in time. The locals celebrate the 450th anniversary of feudalism this year and a very minor technological progress: there are no ATMs, no street lighting and cars are prohibited. People still travel in the horse-drawn carriages!

Why to go there?

The island definitely provides an unforgettable experience. Discover its versatile nature, caves, beaches as well as culture. The local cuisine boasts fresh sea food, local beef, lamb and pork. The tourists are accommodated in the historic hotels.

8. Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, Canada

The provincial park’s in British Columbia main goal is to preserve grizzly bear population, which encounters various dangers and is threaten to extinct. Wild nature, untouched by people, is especially striking in June, when it all gets covered in lush greenery. Tourists are offered boat or plane tours with experienced guides, who know where to go to find grazing grizzlies.

Why to go there?

One of the most dangerous animal and yet it can rarely be seen. Encounter with a bear is lethal. However, to see it in its own environment is one of the most rewarding traveling experiences out there. It is also a very adventurous trip.

7. Jeju Island, South Korea

The volcanic island is protected by UNESCO therefore one can be assured to see some of the most striking sites. Besides the pristine beaches and world-quality resorts, the island provides a wild landscape. Looking from above it is obvious that there was once a volcano. Moreover, there is a crater lake on the summit – a cherry on top for a curious traveler. Jeju also features dramatic coastline, numerous waterfalls and a famous cave system.

How to get there?

By plane from the mainland. There is a local airport on the island. From there the best way to get around is by renting a car.

6. Corsica, France

The birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte has a volatile history and heritage to discover and even more. The island drops into the Mediterranean climate zone, therefore promises mild climate all year round. In summer its beaches and resorts are the main attraction here. Also the cuisine is exquisite: fresh ingredients will please even the most picky gourmet.

Corsica features great nature, historic architecture, exquisite cuisine. Tourists can go hiking and exploring architecture as well as relax on the pristine soft sandy beaches.

5. The Australian Alps

It is winter time in the wonderful upside-down country Australia and if you don’t like the heat, go skiing in the Australian Alps, located between the states of Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. It contains a huge area, whose rich wildlife and natural resources make it a great holiday destination. While skiing resorts are of course among the main attraction here.

Why to go there?

The mountains provide a variety of slopes for the beginners as well as professionals. Ski villages, lodges and resorts offer numerous accommodation options, while restaurants will allow visitors to enjoy a nice meal after an adventurous day in the Alps.

4. Magna Carta Trails, England

This year on June 15th England is celebrating its 800th anniversary. Therefore the tourists are offered to try out a special route, which introduces the history of Magna Carta by following the historic sites. The journey starts in London and passes Windsor, Medieval city of Salisbury, Lincoln Castle where Magna Carta is displayed, Kent and Oxford’s Bodleian Library, which contains original manuscripts.

Why to go there?

England attracts visitors for its rich history and culture, beautiful nature and friendly people. Even if you live here, this summer is one of the best times to travel around the country and join the festivals and entertainment regarding this important anniversary.

3. Jungfraujoch Rails, Switzerland

The country is truly a gem in the heart of Europe. Swiss Alps is a popular destination in winter loved by the skiers, but did you know that in summer it also provides no less spectacular activities? Like the Brienzer Rothorn Railway in the Emmental Alps, Jungfraujoch route stretches through the Eiger and Mönch mountains high above surface. The site is otherwise accessible for the professional climbers only, therefore don’t miss the opportunity to admire the unexplored peaks, glaciers and mountains carpeted in lush green grass.

How to get there?

The rail is located in the town of Kleine Scheidegg. Get there by train from anywhere in Switzerland. From the town catch the Jungfrau Railway, that will take to Jungfraujoch station high in the mountain.

2. The Lake Constance Cycle Route

The city of Konstanz in Germany has prepared a wonderful route, perfect for the cyclists. Embedded in the Alps, the itinerary circles three countries – Germany, Switzerland and Austria – and passes medieval villages, castles, churches and idyllic Alpine towns. Even if you are not up for riding a bike, you can go on a ferry on the lake and approach the shoreline from there.

Why to go there?

Konstanz is found in southwestern Germany – one of the most beautiful parts of the country. It combines amazing nature with famous German flare for perfection. Local cuisine is also influenced by the neighboring countries and has its own specialties.
