A wonderful center is founded in a spa town of Gastein. Located in the Austrian Alps, which is also a popular ski site. Baths and pools use fresh water from the hot springs, that come from the mountains.

8. Onsen, Japan
Onsen – hot spring – has a long tradition in Japan. Due to the volcanic activities, hot springs can be found all across the country. There is a variety of hot springs – indoors and outdoors – and they are being used all year round. Even the Japanese macaques use them to bask in winter.

7. Gellért Baths, Budapest, Hungary
A sumptuous complex was built between 1912-1918. It features thermal baths and indoor as well as outdoor pools. Thermal baths are filled with water from Gellért hill’s mineral hot springs, which is rich with minerals that are beneficial for health.

5. Roman Baths, Bath, England
The city became a spa center in circa AD 60, when the Romans brought their bathing tradition here. The current complex was built in 1897. Baths are filled with water from hot springs. Today it serves as a museum and a spa center.

4. Blue Lagoon, Grindavík, Iceland

3. Saturnia, Tuscany, Italy
Terme di Saturnia – the natural hot springs – have been used since the ancient times. According to legend, the springs were created after angry Jupiter had thrown lightning bolts, trying to hit Saturn. He missed him and a natural spa center was formed.

2. Pamukkale, Denizli Province, Turkey
Also known as the Cotton Castle, the world-famous site is protected by UNESCO and very much loved by the visitors. The travertine terraces get inundated with hot water from the springs, which is rich with minerals and beneficial for health. It has been used as a bathing site for centuries.
