Top 10 Great Tourist Destinations That Are Perfect Movie Sets

Some locations were specifically built for a film and turned into a tourist destination. Others are so gorgeous and photogenic, that they attract filmmakers from all around the world. 10. Star Wars set Tatooine, Chott el Djerid, Sahara, Tunisia

The epic movie’s set was rediscovered by artist Rä di Martino. Apparently, the film set was not dismantled, but left by the crew in the desert. The film set is obviously eroded by the sand and wind and looks like an abandoned settlement on another planet.

Why to go there?

After the photos were published, Star Wars fans have raised $11 000 to restore the set. Today the site is visited by the tourists.

9. Zabriskie Point, California, USA

Found in the east of the infamous Death Valley, Zabriskie Point offers a glimpse of a landscape, exposed to the millions of years of ferocious erosion. Named after Christian B. Zabriskie, the site inspired Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni, who shot an eponymous classic movie here.

Why to go there?

A hike from the Golden Canyon to Zabriskie Point spoils with some of the most fascinating views in the terrain. After all, the site is often referred to as the most captivating in the whole Death Valley.

8. Marloes Sands, Pembrokeshire, Wales

The beach of staggering beauty has been discovered by a wider audience considerably recently. It has been attracting locals for years, but recently it has attracted even Hollywood’s attention and was featured in the movie “Snow White And The Huntsman”.

However, after the filming was finished somebody got the idea to leave this Hobbit village as the tourist attraction. And it definitely was a great idea.
