Autumn is a lovely season, when forests get covered in a pretty colorful foliage. Meanwhile a lot of festivals take place during this time. Besides the harvest celebrations many other artistic, fun and exotic fests are celebrated around the world. Take a look at these ten choices this year.

10. Wellfleet Oyster Fest, Wellfleet, USA

The fishing town is famous for its oysters, clams and shellfishing. So during the festival the locals and guests celebrate these gifts of nature and gather to relish the local cuisine. The visitors are also entertained by arts and crafts, educational programs, cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, walking tours, live music, a road race, and the annual Oyster Shuck-Off competition.

When to go there?

The feast will take place in October 17 and 18, 2015.

9. Oktoberfest, Munich, Germany

Held since 1810 the festival has become an important part of Bavarian culture. Originally the commemoration of Prince Ludwig’s wedding turned into the biggest beer celebration in the world. Today people from all around the world gather to drink German bear – something the Germans are extremely proud of – and get totally wasted.

When to go there?

This year the festival will take place from September 19 to October 4.

8. Festes de la Mercé, Barcelona, Spain

The people of Barcelona gather to commemorate Virgin de la Mercé – the saint patron of the city. Over 500 activities and shows take over the entire city. One of the most entertaining parades features giants, that are made of wood and are operated by humans!

This year the festival will take place from 23rd to 27th September.

7. London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, England

The longest running motoring event in the world takes off from vibrant London and heads to Brighton – a popular coastal destination. But the most important and all together entertaining thing about the festival is that the participators drive in vintage cars! Even if you are not a car lover, this is something so amusing and historic.

6. International White Truffle Fair, Italy

Truffle is the rarest therefore the most expensive delicacy in the world! The best chefs from around the world gather and prepare dishes with this edible wonder. Besides an auction takes place, where the prices can reach $1,200 a pound! The menu however features other dishes from the local cuisine as well, including roast pork, salami, polenta and many others.

5. Café Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival, Hungary

Formerly known as Budapest Autumn Festival, it has nothing to do with coffee! This is a contemporary art feast, where guests can explore the world of music, drama, dance, art exhibitions, poetry, literature, design and contemporary circus. The venues all around beautiful Budapest welcome curious and cultured.

1. Yi Peng Lantern Festival, Thailand

The Buddhist celebration is meant to cleanse the spirit from bad luck by sending lanterns to Buddha. People send lanterns to the sky and decorate their houses with flowers and candles, which creates the lifting atmosphere. The participators also get to see the parade, where dancers in traditional costumes send some love to the deity. The festival is the most exciting in Chiang Mai – the city in northern Thailand.
