Aogashima, Japan. The Island is located in the Philippine Sea. It is 3.5 km long and 2.5 km wide. The small island with around 200 inhabitants is administered by Tokyo.
Aogashima is of a volcanic origin – it is a volcanic caldera. The unique thing about it is that there is a smaller caldera in the middle of an island. The landscape is being compared with the Jurassic Park set.
The island is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. It is accessible only by boat or helicopter. Although it is inhabited and visited by tourists, be aware that the volcano is still active. However, the place offers tranquility and unique landscape.
